The History Of The Ragamuffin Black Ragdoll Cat – The Parents

The Ragamuffin cat

The Ragamuffin cat got its start from the Ragdoll breed, which was created by Ann Baker. The Ragdoll breed got its start from a Josephine, a domestic long-haired, white cat of unknown origin as well as Burmese-like cats. One of Josephine’s kittens named Daddy Warbucks, who had a mitted seal point longhair with a white blaze and a white tail tip, became one of the foundation males of the Ragdoll breed.

These cats that Baker bred with the pointed pattern and mitted feet were called Cherubim. In 1971, the Ragdoll breed was trademarked and the association was founded. In 1975, some of the original breeders of the Ragdoll cat split off from the breed, creating the Ragamuffin.

The Ragamuffin breed has become a separate breed from the Ragdoll. Though the two breeds share similarities, there are also differences. Like Ragdolls, Ragamuffins have grown in popularity.

The Ragamuffin has a slightly different body type than the Ragdoll and comes in more colors. Ragamuffins can be all coat colors and patterns, with or without white. Cats with pointed and pointed white colors can be registered by the CFA, but not shown.

The Ragdoll cat

The Ragdoll breed was developed in the early 1960s by Ann Baker.  Baker wanted to develop a new breed that would be easier to handle and very affectionate. The Ragdoll breed was the outcome and is friendly and warm attracting many pet lovers to adopt it.

It has a semi-long coat that is soft and thick and comes in seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, and cream colors. The Ragdolls are known for their large, round eyes, long ears, and soft fur. The coat of the Ragdoll is one of the main reasons that make this breed so popular.

There is a great variety of Ragdolls available, from those that are only 10 pounds to those that are up to 20 pounds.
